Inspiration: Sunglasses Case

I really cant leave the house without wearing sunglasses in the daytime. It's because I have this thought in the back of my mind that if I keep narrowing my eyes just to protect it from the sun... I'm gonna look older than I am – you know WRINKLES AROUND YOUR EYES!

However, carrying it with its hard cases makes my bag bulkier. So I was thinking to make a Sunglasses cases that is not too big or bulky.  Any idea?

Here what I found in the internet:

It seems that these are soooooo easy to make. I don't have to pull much of my sleeves to my elbows!

Tutorial: How to Make a Fabric Coaster

I made a post about a Crafty Drink Fabric Coaster, which I made as a present for my friends new house.
Here is the tutorial on how I made that one of a kind coaster.

Tutorial: How to Make Fabric Coasters
Materials:
2 pieces of 5" square pieces of fabric per coaster
coordinating thread and sewing machine

STEP 1:
Cut two pieces of 5 inches square fabric. I use the kind of fabric with bigger threads.

STEP 2:
Next is, using a running stitch in your sewing machine. Sew 3/4” on four sides, to stop the sides of the  fabric from raveling.  Do this on the 2 fabric.

STEP 3:
Then, using any pointed tool (e.g. Needle , Pin. ) remove the threads of the fabric, up to the sewed part of the fabric.  Do this again on both fabric.

STEP 4:
Lay one fabric square down, right side up. Lay second fabric square on top, right side up also, but  in diagonal position. (see below image) then follow the pink sewing line as shown in the image.

Your first coaster is done! Repeat for as many coasters as you want to make, then arrange them proudly on your coffee table.

Crafty Drink Fabric Coasters

Being a fashion designer means that you become a fabric swatch hoarder. It's not a maybe, it's not a possibly, it's a definite fact. Because the smallest scrap of fabric can be worked into any something beautiful and useful, And it is really hard for me to throw any left trimming on the trash bins. How can I painfully throw away such bright idea?

This fabric coasters is a great one to use up fabric scraps. I use the excess fabric that I made for the Table runner.

If you are looking for tutorial on how to do it.. Check it out here...

DIY Inspiration: Man Clutch

Actually,  hindi na bago ung concept ng “Man clutch”, and now it’s making a come back. Maybe it is because of some men's distinct attitude - to bring less baggage (literally and figuratively “LOL”). So I scout the world wide web to check and get inspiration for my next DIY.

Below are some of the photos I’ve found.

What do you think? Are men ready to carry a clutch bag? I think I Am!!!

DIY Inspiration: Denim Travel Bag

In just a month I'll be going back to my homeland  -  Philippines. Honestly , excited na ako na makabalik uli. Halos araw-araw eh binibilang ko kung ilang days na lang ang natitira. And almost everyday, I am checking every airlines for the cheapest plane ticket! hahahha!

And with that, as part of my first ever DIY project here in Destiny Crafts. I am planning to make a travel bag. I browsed the net for some inspirations, and here they are!

And daming nagtatanong kung bakit gusto kong umuwi sa Pinas. All of my friends and acquaintances I talked to  asks me the same question – “Why do you want to go back and live in the Philippines again?” Nagtataka sila kung bakit sa kabila ng maganda kong career dito, with matching media exposure pa yan ha (share ko yung photo ko sa Gulfnews later), would I decide to leave all behind.

Bakit nga ba?

Why I love Crafting?

I am quite excited sa bago kong blogsite. It is all about Crafting and DIY’s. Me and my crafty companion “Mahal ko” are going to be spending the coming days, weeks and months sharing our latest makes with you on my new blog “Destiny Crafts, while searching  the wonderweb for inspiration.

I called this “Destiny Crafts” because I was inspired by Jim Brickmans song “Destiny” – and actually it is our themesong.  This blog is dedicated to my bestfriend, brother, boyfriend, man of my dreams, companion, and destiny – Mahal ko.

Para simulan ang aming adventure in the world of crafting, naiisip ko that it is better to introduce myself. My name is Toni and I’ve been making things since I was a kid. I have another blog, and it’s all about fashion – called YOUR DESIGNER 101. Meron din po akong site, where in I’m putting all my crafts  - accessories, bags, clothes etc for sale…  you can visit that site here or you can view my portfolio here.

Fashion designing for me is a satisfying hobby, which I’ve picked up and never put down over the years. I also stitched and create simple patterns for my for sales items.

Madami pa akong gusting sabihin but if is better to show you more through this crafty blogsite. - so I'll keep you posted about what I'm making, and what I'm loving online... over the coming weeks.
